3/18/2020: In light of new information we received this morning, and after much discussion and prayer, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I am announcing that Moments of Hope Outreach is shutting down ALL operations effective immediately.
After much brainstorming creative approaches and modifications to the plan implemented just yesterday, we have concluded that we cannot safely distribute food without guests and volunteers possibly getting infected or becoming carriers because the infectious droplets from a cough or sneeze can remain in the air for up to 3 hours. Most of those whom we serve are in the high risk categories, and we simply cannot put them at further at risk.
We are reaching out via phone and text to everyone we have current contact information for, and asking them to help us share this change. We will remain shutdown until April 15th, and will reassess at that point.
We are asking all who have been collecting groceries to donate to us, to please hold them until we resume operations, or consider donating the funds intended for the purchase, to help us be prepared to hit the ground running when we resume.
Please pray for the hundreds of families and individuals who rely upon the food we provide to make it week-to-week. Please pray for our volunteers and staff, as this is devastating for us. We're praying for you too! Please help us spread the word! Please stay healthy!
